I am holding my breathe. And so are many others.
In spite of all the noise out there, in five days, we shall be knocking on the door step of history. On November 4th, we will elect a woman vice president of the United States or an African-American president.
I have taken that day off because I want to relax and soak it in. It is one of those days when for the rest of your life you will remember where you were when it happened.
Most importantly, I have not decided what my reaction would be. Maybe I do not need to. Maybe I will go for what is natural. There is no need getting ready for a fist pump in the air. But if I need a beer or a chilled wine, I may have to get one ready.
If I plan to shed tears, I may need to have a large bucket by my side as voting end in Florida.
And if I need to fire a gun in the air, I will need to buy one soon.
I know the campaigns are winding down. At the same time, a lot of things are being thrown out there. The kitchen sink has been hurled out. Now the sewage pipe is being pulled out with the help of handymen like Joe the Plumber. What is going on in these final days is just for the attention of the undecided voters.
It is obviously not for those who have voted. And definitely not for people like me who have made up our minds long time ago.
In this election, with its long campaign, an undecided voter is essentially someone who is ashamed to saying who he or she is going to vote for.
The speeches have been made thousands of times. The smears have been floating around the internet for months. The October Surprise has come and gone. Voters who are not afraid of anything have all made up their minds.
But that is OK. We shall wait for another five days.
While we wait, I will continue to think: Could it happen? Would America shock the world?
Well, I hope so.
