From Obama's Pastor to Obama's DogAt least, we now know he is not a Muslim. Obama, I mean.

The fury over the content of the sermons of Obama’s Pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is the latest of what is poised to be a long battle to knock Obama off his message and derail a campaign that is threatening to upturn the order of things.

Many have expressed shock at what came out of the mouth of Rev. Jeremiah Wright. To those who are that shocked I say, Welcome to the Black Church.

The black church is not your friend, America. It has no reason to be. In case you have forgotten, it is the church that slaves and the former slaves founded when you, Christians, all children of God, denied them entry into your church. For long, the church has been the last refuge of blacks, long abused and debased.

So America, why are you surprised at things said in that last sanctuary of long suppressed and subjugated souls?

It all reminded me of the day Bill O’Reilly went with Rev. Al Sharpton to a famous restaurant in Harlem called Sylvia’s. Bill O’Reilly was shocked that people in the restaurant were respectful. “I couldn’t get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia’s restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City.” The conservative talk show host said. “I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it’s run by blacks, primarily black patronship.”

Even after Katrina, it is surprising to see many who are ignorant of the existence of two Americas – the black and white America. Excepts for sudden storms that sweep things out, many spend a lifetime in their own America unaware of what is going on in other people’s America.

That ignorance gap between the two Americas is filled with assumptions, innuendos, fears and conspiracies. When a door opens and the other side sees a glimpse of what goes on inside the America unknown to them, it is usually followed by shock.

Bridging the gap between these two Americas are the Latinos, the Asians and the Obamas.

If you think Rev. Wright was way off the mark, go and translate what the American Indians are saying when they are pouring libation, making incantation or just before they make their sacrifice to their retired gods.

As November come along, I look forward to discussing the controversy that will follow the release of tapes of Obama’s dog playing in the yard. News analysts will interpret the dog’s scribbles on the ground to see if it is a secret code to the inner chambers of Obama’s heart.

It is the nature of the beast. Isn’t it?
