The casualties from the rise of Glenn Beck have not even started to accumulate. Some will not even know what hit them. Those in doubt should ask CNN’s Lou Dobbs.

The T.V. planets have been realigning for a while now. It was inevitable that it would lead to the exit of Lou Dobbs from CNN.

This is how Lou fell.

Lou Dobbs had a very profitable business show on CNN. It explained businesses and business policies using experts and professionals. Titans of industries were thrilled to have an avenue to reach a great number of people.

Then Dobbs left CNN during the Dot.com boom to start an online business. When it failed, he returned.

On his return, he repositioned himself as a man against big business. It made the business world go jittery. And then, he discovered the issue of illegal immigration and it finally swallowed Lou.

Lou Dobbs was swimming in his illegal immigration pond when Barack Obama emerged as a credible candidate for president. That reality finally unscrewed Lou’s mind. He turned against everything and everybody and proclaimed himself the last independent man standing.

But it was too late. Glenn Beck bus has since left the station.

Unlike Lou Dobbs who is mean and mischievous, Glenn Beck is comical and crazy. While Lou made bad T.V., Glenn made an entertaining show.

It did not take time before viewers flee from Lou Dobbs. Little by little, he found himself left in a news island called CNN.

I knew Lou was in trouble when he claimed that someone shot at his house. Yeah right! In Lou’s illusionary world, hunters have become snipers. The trick did not work. More viewers fled.

So it was not a surprise for me to hear that Lou has left the house Ted Turner built.

There is the speculation that Lou will run for office. If he throws his hat into the political arena, he may find out that independents are people, too. They also need government to do something for them. The government they do not want to see spend money or increase taxes or cut defense spending.

Some say that Lou will find a mansion at Fox News. I doubt that. Lou has no funny bone in him. And you need it to survive at the news station that has unleashed comics as anchors.
