Some people are having great difficulty in finding a painful way to disrespect President Obama.
I will help them out.
Folks at the University of Notre Dame are challenged beyond belief. They invited Obama to come and give a commencement speech and receive an honorary degree. It must have sounded simple to the catholic university president.
But lo and behold, students and bishops are up in arms. They do not want Obama to come to their university because he supports abortion rights. The university president did not dis-invite President Obama and the students and some of their bishops are not backing down.
In Arizona, at the Arizona State University, the university president invited Obama to come and give the commencement speech but is withholding an honorary degree. The university explained that they are doing so because Obama’s “body of work is yet to come.”
Apparently, getting elected president at 47 does not mean a thing in Arizona. Being the first black president did not count. Writing two best selling books is irrelevant.
As you can see, these people are struggling with ways to disrespect Obama. Unfortunately for these folks, President Obama is not petrified by these antics.
Apparently, many of these folks have forgotten things that come with electing a black man president. First of all, he is always calm to the surprise of many who expect him to be angry. Secondly, things that will upset others will only make him smile for he has been desensitized by past insults. Thirdly, he has gotten to the mountain top, so he can afford to come down when he wants.
I was tempted to begin a campaign to stop all American presidents from welcoming the Pope next time he comes because the Pope is against death penalty and abortion rights which are laws of the United States. But that will be tit for tat. If I remember my holy book well, Christ taught us to turn the other cheek.
In the light of the difficulties of those who want to disrespect President Obama, I will suggest that the best way to do so is not to vote for him next time his name appears on a ballot.
Gee, that will teach him a lesson.
