I do not listen to Rush Limbaugh. But sometimes what he says on his conservative talk radio show gets to me.

Those who listen to Rush Limbaugh are more often than not men and women who see the world going the way they do not like and wish to stop the world. They do not want to jump out, else I’d help slow the world down for them to exit. They want to take control of the wheels and turn the world around for a journey back to the past.

Fortunately, the world cannot turn back. The last time they had the wheels, they tried it but ended up crashing the world.

When I first heard that Rush Limbaugh wished that President Obama would fail in his effort to fix the economy, I thought he was just being honest- unlike many who swore that Obama would never be president but have since refused to leave the United States as they once threatened to.

The other day, Rush Limbaugh said that President Obama is “frightened” of him. He argued that the president is more frightened of him than he is of Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader and John Boehner, the House minority leader. Limbaugh made this comment after President Obama told GOP congressional leaders to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh.

“Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh,” is actually a coded expression. It does not mean stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. It means stop being stupid. It means stop all childish things.

I say, let them keep listening to Rush Limbaugh. Let them be stupid. Let them be childish.

After what happened in the last election, in spite of all the venom spewed by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, why should anybody be begged not to listen to Rush Limbaugh?

Men who have health insurance, often obtained through their wives’ job, are the greatest critics of any attempt to expand it. They will scream any word to get attention. It includes screaming socialism which does not frighten people as much as the name Rush Limbaugh does.

The logic of the Limbaugh fans are so screwed up. They do not complain that the banks are being given tax payers’ money to stop them from failing. But they think it is nationalism by the back door. They complain when ordinary Americans are mentioned as possible recipients of tax payers’ money. When banks are asked to give out as loans tax payers’ money they got from the government, the Limbaugh fans scream that it was policies like that, from the Clintons, of course, that got us all where we are.

Rush Limbaugh sees in every difficult situation a simple solution. It is all that his small mind can come up with. Unfortunately, it is always wrong. But it is hard to let other small minds who listen to him see how wrong it is.

If Gov. Blagojevich is going about talking and some people are listening, I say, let Rush Limbaugh talk. The Republic will survive and outlive the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

Rush Limbaugh is the pornography of the airwave. Like pornography of the internet, many worry about what it does to those who patronize it. I worry about what they would be doing if they are not patronizing it. Imagine what those millions of Limbaugh fans will be doing with their four hours a day if they are not listening to Rush Limbaugh. Imagine the carnage they can cause.

Though it may not seem like it, but by keeping them glued to the radio, the ‘big fat idiot’ is playing a vital role in keeping the nut cases in check. And for that we owe him thanks.
